Hospital Must-Haves

Running list of items to pack for surgery (the recommendation is to pack a couple weeks in advance and spend the days leading up to surgery to prepare for post-op):

  • Lip balm
  • Baby wipes
  • Lotion
  • Shampoo, conditioner, comb, mousse
  • Toothbrush/paste
  • Deodorant
  • Living will

  • feminine products (people supposedly start their periods during and after surgery)
  • Fan
  • Wooden spoon to wrap toilet paper around to wipe butt (?!?)
  • Robe & slippers to walk hallways after surgery
  • CPAP machine
  • albuterol rescue inhaler

  1. Yes, I know, I am bopping all over your blog because I just found you! I’m sorry! As you will be going through this surgery first, I am relying on you now to explain certain things to me…like that wooden spoon thing and if it is really a necessity!

  2. I didn’t have the need for the femine products at all – no period at all…

Also – are you serious about the wooden spoon? HA! I didn’t need anything like that either… you won’t poop for at least the first day or two…
